Fourth generation interactive video-based analysis system for scoring cells using the single cell gel electrophoresis technique introduces one-click scoring
Perceptive Instruments announces the imminent launch of Comet Assay IV, an interactive video-based analysis system for scoring cells using the single cell gel electrophoresis technique.
This fourth generation system builds upon the success of its predecessors, featuring sophisticated new detection and scoring algorithms, enhanced ease of use and powerful database connectivity.
Comet Assay IV introduces click and score, described as a totally new scoring method in which a single click on a comet initiates and completes the entire measurement cycle, including background correction, determination of head and tail regions, and computation of all parameters.
Olive tail moment, tail% intensity and tail length are still widely regarded as the most informative measures of DNA damage in the Comet assay. Naturally, the program includes these along with others such as head length, head% intensity, tail migration, total intensity, cell area and mean grey level.
The program accumulates measurements for each slide and, once the target number of cells have been scored, the user is prompted and the data saved to Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis using the Spreadsheet Generator macro.
Alternatively, the system can be configured to save data to an Oracle database in real time for additional security.
A new extraction utility allows users to view data from the database and extract it into Excel workbooks for further analysis and reporting.
Comet Assay IV successfully bridges the gap between the needs of laboratories conducting purely investigative work and those where regulatory compliance is essential.
The program generates audit trails and an optional user administration program is available for administering passwords, access levels etc to comply with good laboratory practice and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
