Specialist microplate system simplifies the protein precipitation process enhancing both productivity and overall experimental accuracy
The Protein Microlute from Porvair Sciences is a valuable tool that simplifies the protein precipitation process enhancing both productivity and overall experimental accuracy.
Allowing 96 samples to be processed in one batch, the Protein Microlute produces a typical 70% time saving over traditional methodologies using centrifugation and multiple pipetting even in manual operation.
The protocol used by the Protein Microlute is little changed from the familiar traditional protein precipitation method.
The addition/dispensing stage is now optimised to mix the sample and solvent without vortexing as it is dispensed into the well.
Once the solution has been dispensed into the plate the vacuum may be applied, precipitation of protein starts to occur and the purified sample automatically collected into a deep-well plate.
The plate may then be simply processed ready for MS or HPLC analysis using standard sample injectors.
Using one of Porvair Sciences range of vacuum manifolds, the Protein Microlute can be used manually with a pipette - or the ultimate gains in productivity and experimental accuracy made through full automation with an automated liquid handling system.
