Designed to seal a wide range of polypropylene and polystyrene tubes and plates with a specially prepared film or foil, preventing sample evaporation or leakage
Porvair Sciences has announced the introduction of the ThermalBond heat sealer.
The new device has been designed to seal a wide range of polypropylene and polystyrene tubes and plates with a specially prepared film or foil, thereby preventing sample evaporation or leakage during storage or transportation. Interchangable sample mounting blocks and spacer plates give the ThermalBond the flexibility to seal sample holders ranging from 384-well plates up to 2.0ml microtubes and deepwell plates.
The ThermalBond is very easy and quick-to-use requiring only one operation of the system to apply heat to the surface of the film, creating a fine melt with the coating of the tube/plate being sealed.
Designed such that no heat is transferred to the sample the ThermalBond ensures sample integrity and enhances throughput of samples to be sealed.
Rugged and robust in construction the ThermalBond ensures that sample holders remain perfectly flat providing even, consistent sealing time-after-time.
A durable PTFE coated heater plate allows easy and thorough removal of any surface build-up of sealing film.
Once sealed by the ThermalBond, sample containers will not leak or allow evaporation even under the most arduous of storage or transport conditions.
To access liquid samples after storage, the film/foil may be pierced and the sample simply removed with a pipette.
Alternatively, a removal key can be used to peel back the foil for complete sample removal.
