Tool provides a high-integrity inert seal on a wide range of plates and microtubes, using a specially prepared pierceable film or foil
The number of new compounds developed over recent years has soared.
This means there then is a requirement for laboratories to ensure sample integrity at the same time as minimising sample loss, evaporation and leakage during storage and transportation.
The Thermobond heat sealer from Porvair Sciences is a versatile and easy-to-use tool that provides a high-integrity inert seal on a wide range of plates and microtubes.
Using a specially prepared pierceable film or foil, the Thermobond requires only one operation of the system to apply heat to the surface of the film, creating a fine melt with the coating of the plate/ tube being sealed.
High sample integrity is maintained as no heat is transferred to the sample during sealing.
Once sealed by the Thermobond, sample containers will not leak or allow evaporation even under the most arduous of storage or transport conditions.
To access liquid samples after storage, the film/foil may be pierced and the sample simply removed with a pipette, alternatively a removal key can be used to peel back the foil for complete sample removal.
Interchangeable sample mounting blocks and spacer plates provide Thermobond with the flexibility to seal formats ranging from 384-well plates up to 2.0ml microtubes and deepwell plates.
This also allows the product being sealed to remain perfectly flat during operation providing consistent sealing time after time.
