Dates and venues have now been set for the 'Profibus Made Easy' series of seminars organised by Profibus UK
Intended to help engineers and engineering management in automation and process control, each seminar or workshop addresses a distinct aspect of the Profibus range of solutions for industry, from device implementation for OEMs through to design of failsafe systems for machine and process control. Profibus implementation made easy for OEMs - 11 June, Milton Keynes.
Profibus and ethernet made easy - 12 June, Bedford. Process applications made easy - 19 June, Manchester.
Drive engineering and motion control made easy - 18 July, Manchester. Profibus and safety made easy - 18 July, Manchester.
Led by industry experts, each event is designed to bring the audience up to date on the very latest industrial networking and automation technologies.
For example the implementation workshop (11 June), which is intended for field device manufacturers who would like to implement Profibus at the hardware level, features Manfred Popp, head of the Profibus Integration Centre in Fürth and author of The Rapid Way to Profibus DP.
The Profibus and ethernet made easy seminar (12 June) features experts from Softing, Hirschmann, and Siemens who will show how Profibus, Profinet, ethernet, and OPC-DX can be combined to offer a complete, seamless hierarchy of automation for modern manufacturing operations.
Andy Verwer, principal lecturer at the Profibus Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University will open the Process applications made easy seminar (19 June) with an introduction to Profibus PA.
Other presentations will include a case study from user Mark Garston of DSM Resins, and a paper covering fieldbus and intrinsic safety from Mike O'Neill of Hawke Fieldbus. The drives and safety seminars (18 July) will be led by Working Group chairman Wolfgang Stripf who will explain the significance of DPV2 in the development of the Profidrive and Profisafe profiles.
The drives seminar will cover practical solutions to drive engineering and motion control applications for a wide range of industries and applications, while the safety seminar will bring delegates up to date with the implementation of the new Profisafe profile and generic Profisafe driver, enabling compliance to international standards IEC 61508-SIL 3, DIN VDE 0801 - AK6 and EN 954-1 - category 4.
