Nutrition Point, one of the UK's leading gluten-free and wheat-free food companies, has opened a state of the art testing laboratory at its Warrington headquarters
This new development is part of an on-going programme to maintain the highest level of technical excellence.
New food labelling legislation and FSA guidelines require food companies to have absolute control at all levels of their production process.
As a specialist food company Nutrition Point is continually investing in new systems to ensure all its foods meet the correct criteria. The establishment of this in-house laboratory was made possible through collaboration with Reading Scientific Services (RSSL). RSSL has particular expertise in allergen analysis and consultancy and provided the blueprint of the laboratory as well as the necessary technical expertise to ensure that analysis was performed to the highest standard.
Dawn Haywood, technical and product safety manager of Nutrition Point, said: "RSSL has been intrinsic to the success of the testing facility". Nutrition Point is an acknowledged authority on all issues relating to the 'free from' food market.
The in-house laboratory underlines the company's commitment to stay at the forefront of this area.
Chris Hook, managing director of Nutrition Point, said: "This exciting new development will enable us to ensure the highest standards of safety and adhere to ever changing EU regulations.
"This reassurance is of paramount importance to our customers and our business". According to figures produced by Coeliac UK, around one in 80 people in the UK is affected by gluten or wheat intolerance.
This laboratory will ensure that the product safety they require will be guaranteed.
