Specifically and ruggedly designed for on-line applications, such as in food and dairy work where fear of broken glass is paramount
The advantages of these new non-glass Sentron-line series of rugged, non-glass pH probes are that these are specially designed for on-line applications.
The high-tech ion sensitive field effect transistor (Isfet) solid state pH probe are virtually unbreakable, give the user fast measurements and can be stored dry.
Due to their robustness, the Sentron-line Isfet probes have a long lifetime under normal circumstances, which makes them relatively cheap to apply.
For many years already the Sentron probes have proven their use in food industry laboratories, where the fear of broken glass is significant.
The Isfet pH probe is the obvious choice for quality control of dairy processing and production.
The Sentron-line probe is also very suitable for water applications, such as continuous/real-time monitoring of effluent in wastewater treatment plants and drink water production.
The Isfet probe especially proves its power under demanding circumstances where high solids, more aggressive chemicals or biological materials are present and clogging or junction contamination may occur.
The probe can easily be cleaned, just using a simple toothbrush.
Another example is nutrition chemical addition equipment used in greenhouses.
Fresh feed-water is prepared and mixed with reused drain water in an online pH controlled manner.
Technical details.
The Sentron-line probe electronics are safely embedded in the probe and powered by an external 5V supply.
Intelligent signal processing allows the user to choose between a 0 to 5.000mV output range making the device compatible with data logging and PLC control systems, or conversion of the Isfet signals to match glass pH electrode behavior.
This gives the opportunity to use these non-glass pH probes with conventional existing measurement equipment.
In stead of this voltage outputs the probe can also provided with a 4-20mA output.
In that case the power supply for the probe will be derived form the current loop.
The robust Sentron-line probe is designed to prevent air bubbles problems, to operate between 0 and 70C and to withstand up to ten bars of static pressure, allowing the use of all pumping systems, as it can handle much more pressure than glass probes.
The accuracy is 0.1pH and within 500ms at least 67% of the signal is built up, delivering stable readings in less than five seconds for most samples.
If desired by the user, several alternative probe designs can be obtained, such as galvanic isolation to prevent ground loops, other connectors (eg BNC, power connector), or different materials (Peek, PEI) that are FDA approved or more resistant to certain chemicals or circumstances.
The Sentron-line probe is simple to use: plugging in the RJ-45 jacket for power supply and signal processing and the probe is ready to be used (after calibration). Furthermore, the probe can be delivered with a corresponding fitting to be built into PVC pipes or with other connectors in stead of the RJ-45 jacket.
