Online career centre provides free access to a growing database of openings at some of the world's leading companies and offers employers a way to attract candidates
A survey conducted by the Science Advisory Board revealed that nearly one-quarter of life science professionals will actively search for a new job position this year.
In recognition of their need to easily locate employment opportunities, Science Advisory Board has launched a new online career centre, which provides scientific and medical professionals with free access to a growing database of openings at some of the world's leading companies and research institutions, and offers employers a cost-effective way to attract candidates with highly technical backgrounds.
Since 1997, nearly 20,000 professionals in the life science and medical industries have joined the Science Advisory Board to exchanges ideas and opinions, and further their careers through networking with colleagues around the world.
Because it is part of an established community, the Science Advisory Board career centre claims to offer a distinct advantage over other science-related job boards - the ability to quickly and easily bring together employers and talented potential employees with experience in a broad range of research areas, including cell biology, drug discovery, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular biology, neuroscience, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, physiology and virology.
"This week marks the full-scale launch of the Science Advisory Board career centre and it is already generating rave reviews from members," said Molly Scott, Science Advisory Board's career centre manager. "The career centre will grow in popularity and soon be the best resource for experienced life science professionals to easily find jobs that pertain specifically to them". Members, as well as site visitors, can take advantage of the board's resume-building capabilities to post their resumes and CVs online in a searchable database or submit them directly to prospective employers' job openings.
For convenient job searching, the board's job postings are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but members can also opt for weekly emails to alert them to new postings that match their areas of technical expertise.
For employers, the site is designed to ease the challenges they face when attempting to recruit qualified candidates in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
For a low fee, human resources personnel and staffing firms can post detailed responsibilities and requirements of an open position and reach uniquely qualified job seekers-often with hands-on experience in the field.
They can then easily manage their job postings on their own without having to go through a sales or account representative.
Additionally, the board's staff can work closely with HR managers to design so-called relational recruiting packages that can expose a targeted group of Science Advisory Board job seekers to a customised, online presentation of an organisation and its open positions - while also providing the employer with instant feedback on its presentation and recruiting message.
"With the abundance of web sites and bulletin boards dedicated to job openings, it is often difficult for organisations in the scientific and medical fields to weed through hundreds of candidates to find the best prospective employees.
By using the Science Advisory Board career centre, both qualified job seekers and relevant employers will benefit by effortlessly finding each other," said Scott.
