Inexpensive 3D imaging software is designed to save time by automatically creating in-focus images of 3D samples captured from users' existing image capture systems
Syncroscopy's Auto-Montage Essentials is an inexpensive 3D imaging software designed to save time by automatically creating in-focus images of 3D samples captured from users' existing image capture systems.
Based on Auto-Montage, an image reconstruction technology invented by Syncroscopy, Auto-Montage Essentials can select the in-focus areas from Bitmap, Tiff or Jpeg source image files captured by any digital camera.
The software then automatically combines these to produce both a fully focused Montage image and a depth map.
The depth map reveals the actual shape of the specimen under the microscope and is useful when imaging single colour samples.
Using special glasses, Auto-Montage Essentials also allows microscopists to view their specimen as a true 3D anaglyph.
This provides a unique representation of their depth data and saves time by making it easier to detect specific areas of interest within a sample.
The software also includes comprehensive image editing features, which produce publication quality results, without the need to use additional editing software.
To simplify report and presentation work, all images generated by Auto-Montage Essentials can either be printed directly or saved in a range of file formats for rapid export to Word or PowerPoint.
Martin Smith, Syncroscopy's divisional manager, commented: "Auto-Montage has long been the industry gold standard for 3D imaging, so it is a great pleasure to introduce a new low cost version.
"By making Auto-Montage Essentials accessible to microscopists on a limited budget, the time consuming task of manually cutting and pasting in-focus sections of images could easily become a thing of the past."
