Repositioned portfolio sees instruments once considered to be cutting-edge shifted to the mainstream market and new value enhancements across the range
Tektronix has announced it has repositioned its entire oscilloscope portfolio to meet the needs of its customers in applications ranging from high-speed serial data compliance testing to troubleshooting and education.
Devices that once were considered leading-edge are migrating into mainstream applications, forcing design engineers to move up the performance curve with their test instrumentation.
As a result, traditional ultra-high performance (1-4 GHz) oscilloscopes that once tested these leading-edge designs are moving into mainstream performance applications.
At the same time, designers working on mainstream applications face budget constraints that severely limit their ability to purchase the performance and solutions they need. "As I talk to test and measurement manufacturers, their customers are challenged with implementing the technologies and standards that were once leading edge into their mainstream designs and having the instrumentation budget to match their performance needs," said Galen Wampler, industry analyst, Prime Data.
"Escalating signal speeds and ever-accelerating time-to-market pressures challenge the engineer to do more in less time.
"Designers are looking to test and measurement manufacturers to provide them with everything they need - hardware, software, and accessories - to create a complete, affordable range of solutions that are critical to addressing a variety of specific applications".
"The economy has forced budget constraints on designers to the degree that time-to-market may be sacrificed," said Colin Shepard, vice president, oscilloscope products, Tektronix.
"We are making this shift in our portfolio to give our customers access to critical measurement capabilities they need - today.
"This sets the industry benchmark in price/performance, providing our customers with the broadest set of choices in oscilloscopes and solutions to meet their application and budget needs". Tektronix's redefined portfolio consists of ultra-high performance, high performance, mid-range and value oscilloscopes. With this announcement, new pricing and option bundling are offered as follows.
The TDS7000B series: first announced last week with two new models for the ultra-high performance segment - TDS7704B and CSA7404B - that raise performance levels with superior measurement fidelity, unrivaled analysis, and uncompromised usability to speed the validation, debug, characterization and test of complex, high-speed designs.
This week the complete family of TDS/CSA7000 series (B and non-B models) featuring the same superior measurement fidelity, unrivalled analysis, and uncompromised usability for high-speed applications from 1-4 GHz are now available with US-prices starting at $19,900.
The TDS5000 series: the PowerUser package (Option TSY) provides TDS5000 series users with performance and analysis at an unprecedented price - over 80% savings - in the mid-range class of oscilloscopes.
The PowerUser package (Option TSY) includes longer memory, advanced analysis capabilities, additional Ram, a CW-RW drive, a printer and a touch screen interface for a bundled US-price of $1495 rather than $8,410 when purchased separately.
In addition, probes are now standard for the TDS5104 model.
The TDS3000B series: new option BND provides TDS3014B, TDS3034B and TDS3054B users with powerful analysis and documentation capabilities, paired with unparalleled portability, all at a 75% saving.
Tektronix's most popular TDS3000B options and accessories are bundled in Option BND for $495 to include a Li-Ion battery, soft carrying case, communications module, OpenChoice software, Advanced Analysis Module, and Limit Testing Module, altogether valued at $1990 when purchased separately.
The TDS3000B and TDS1000/2000 series: Tektronix's OpenChoice solutions - previously available only on the company's highest performance oscilloscope products - now provides customers with seamless integration between an external personal computer and TDS3000B, TDS2000 and TDS1000 Series oscilloscopes for simple, speedy documentation and analysis.
TDSPCS1 OpenChoice software allows the user to quickly and easily visualize, analyse, document, print and share waveforms, measurement data and oscilloscope settings on the PC using Microsoft Excel and Word toolbars or the OpenChoice Desktop application.
The CompactFlash mass storage card available with the TDS1000 and TDS2000 series oscilloscopes allows quick data transfer between oscilloscope and PC, or between oscilloscopes.
