A range of cellulose tubular membranes which provide a very soft and gentle method of separation for a variety of dialysis applications is the latest addition to the range of products offered by laboratory specialists Triple Red.
Cellu-Sep T-series membranes are supplied in continuous flat roll format to suit a wide range of dialysis applications and volumes.
Tube lengths range from 5, 10, 15 and 30 metres with a choice of flat widths ranging from 10mm up to 100mm.
The polyamide locking membrane clamps supplied with each box help to make the dialysis procedure run smoothly by ensuring superior sealing, these clamps stay locked until the operator releases them and they do not float. Soft lock dialysis membrane clamps are also offered which are specifically designed for delicate dialysis membranes.
These clamps feature a soft-cushioned surface to gently seal tubing without tearing, while the positive lock mechanism prevents the clamps from opening accidentally during analysis.
One particular application for the membranes is their use in the concentration and dilution of biocompatible polymers.
This involves filling a Cellu-Sep tube with 300ml of a biocompatible polymer solution, (using approximately 1m of membrane).
The membrane is then suspended in a container of sterile, pyrogen-free water and allowed to dialyse over night.
The un-reactive elements move through the membrane to enable the concentration and purification of the bioreactive polymer with some of the pure water moving into the tube, thereby diluting the purified solution.
For sensitive applications, high grade/ultra clean membranes are available which are EDTA treated, heavy metal free and ready to use.
To facilitate easy loading and unloading of dialysis tubing, filler funnels can also be supplied along with strong polypropylene bag holders which suspend dialysis bags securely above containers.
