Highly flexible, fully automated liquid handling platform maximises sample integrity and stability through controlled processing
TekCel, a supplier of laboratory automation for life science research has launched the TekBench-SP.
TekBench-SP is the first fully automated liquid handling platform for the processing of tube- and plate-based samples in an inert environment, providing protection from factors known to compromise sample integrity and stability (oxygen, moisture, light, dust).
"Our family of TekBench automated liquid handling platforms provides customers with the highest level of process control and "walk-away" time without compromising the flexibility to address a broad range of applications." said Ed Machuga, TekCel's vice president of sales and marketing.
"The TekBench-SP (sample processing) is designed and configured to integrate seamlessly with our plate, tube or multi-format (both plates and tubes) sample management systems extending the inert environmental envelope to maximise the integrity of our customers' sample libraries and confidence in resulting data.
"TekBench-SP is the first modular system of its kind that addresses the discovery research industry's concern over minimising non-storage environmental exposure." Within a compact 3' x 5' footprint, each vertically integrated TekBench-SP liquid handling platform contains storage for 1008 microplates, containers and consumables (equal to five carousels) and four dynamically exchangeable pipetting tools with flow-through wash stations, maximising walk-away time and processing efficiency.
The fully enclosed, inert workspace can be configured to perform a complete range of processing tasks for tubes (96-tube piercing, active thawing, reformatting) and plates (replication, reformatting, cherry picking) providing a comprehensive sample management solution.
