Compact benchtop system offers a breakthrough in cost-effective and easy to use, real time x-ray inspection
X-Tek Systems, a manufacturer of real-time microfocus x-ray systems, has announced the launch of its new Linx machine.
This compact benchtop system offers a breakthrough in cost-effective and easy to use, real time x-ray inspection.
By making high resolution, real time microfocus x-ray more affordable than ever before, X-Tek says the Linx is set to rock the market with a base price of only £37,500.
It is ideally suited to a broad range of applications including BGA, µBGA, and flip chip inspection and is expected to be of particular appeal to rework houses, universities, research laboratories and general inspection facilities.
Engineered as a highly cost-effective package, the Linx also retains the reliability, ease of use and high resolution that X-Tek customers have come to expect.
In particular the superior imaging capabilities of the Linx make it ideal for spotting faults such as BGA ball wetting, ball to pad delaminations, cracked BGA joints and lifted bond wires.
Easy to operate, with only minimal training required, the Linx features a state-of-the-art 100KV open tube x-ray source for ultra high resolution down to at least two microns.
Compact and manoeuvrable the Linx is still able to take 16" x 16" boards, making it ideal for batch inspection or for checking highly populated devices, with a 100% scan area.
The direct to monitor real time viewing offers instantaneous fault analysis and a magnification ability of up to 200x.
The versatile anti collision manipulator can tilt on X, Y, and Z axes, while the adjustable image intensifier and source also enable oblique angle viewing of sample.
Speaking on the launch of the Linx at AT Expo, Peter Marsh, managing director of X-Tek Systems said: "By offering an exceptional combination of performance, usability and value for money, we believe the Linx will actually create a new market for cost effective x-ray inspection.
With a base price as low as £37,500 the Linx puts high resolution real time x-ray within reach of new markets." Linx has a full safety interlock system and conforms to all international radiation guidelines including FDA and UK ionising radiation regulations.
X-Tek's PC controlled iXS software imaging system is available as an option.
