Craic Technologies has released its new QDI 2000 microspectrophotometer.
This new system represents a major step forward in the field of microspectroscopy due to in terms of the QDI 2000's design and function.
The QDI 2000 integrates UV-visible-NIR spectrophotometer with a research grade UV-visible-NIR microscope.
With the proper optical packages, the system can acquire transmission, reflectance, polarisation and even fluorescence microspectra of samples under a micron in size.
"The QDI 2000 was developed in response to customer needs for cutting edge performance.
"Many of our customers want to be able to measure deeper into the UV or further into the near IR regions with ever higher spectral resolution.

Its uses range from purely scientific research to industrial applications to quality control, says Craic, saying it is equally at home monitoring film thickness on 200 millimetre wafers or colour masks on flat panel displays as it is researching the properties of optical semiconductors or analysing textile fibres from a crime scene.
With the appropriate options, the QDI 2000 is capable of transmission, absorbance, reflectance, polarisation and even fluorescence spectra of samples under one micron, the company says.
All of these measurements can be done with the same instrument both non-contact and non-destructively.
