Considerable extensions in optical, SEM, and TEM performance can be achieved by integrating mosaic imaging software with these instruments
There is often a requirement in subjects ranging from materials science to biological slides to obtain large fields of view while retaining high resolution of detail.
This capability can now be readily achieved by selecting from a modular upgrade package normally consisting of specimen stage computer control, digital camera, and high speed auto-sensing mosaic imaging software.
In optical microscopy for example, a typical area scan would produce an image mosaic from 300 fields of view over a 12x10mm surface, taking 50 seconds giving a 2GB image, though there is no real limitation of the area selected - which in itself would be directly related to the magnification and overall scan required.
A particularly useful feature of the system is that image detail and physical location are digitally recorded, allowing rapid and easy review of any area scan.
