This 'truly remarkablet dye shows little inhibition to PCR, exhibits extremely bright fluorescence, and is highly robust, both thermally and hydrolytically, under alkaline or acidic conditions
Cambridge BioScience has introduced what it says is a superior fluorescent DNA stain for use in quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR).
EvaGreen for qPCR has been developed by Biotium in collaboration with AlleLogic Biosciences, and described as a truly remarkable dye in many aspects.
Unlike some other nucleic acid stains, EvaGreen shows little inhibition to PCR.
It also exhibits extremely bright fluorescence.
While other dyes are reported to be unstable, EvaGreen is said to be highly robust, both thermally and hydrolytically under alkaline or acidic conditions.
In addition, it has excellent compatibility - absorption and emission spectra are similar to those of SYBR Green I or FAM, which means that the same optical settings can be used.
EvaGreen 20x concentration is now available from Cambridge BioScience, with EvaGreen qPCR Basic Mix coming soon.
The Basic Mix, including EvaGreen at 2x concentration, contains all the reagents needed to run a qPCR except for the Taq enzyme.
