Sealing a microplate minimises evaporation and provides protection for samples during assay, storage, and shipment
Porvair Sciences has introduced a new range of adhesive and thermal sealing films and foils, offering a convenient and effective method for sealing 24-, 48-, 96-, 384- and 1536-well microplates.
Sealing a microplate minimises evaporation and provides protection for samples during assay, storage, and shipment.
Using only the highest quality film materials and consistently applied adhesive ensures Porvair adhesive sealing films maintain sample integrity and minimise sample loss, says the company.
The range includes optically clear polyester for PCR work, aluminium for sample storage, breathable Rayon for cell culture applications, and an easy-pierce polyethylene film for general assays.
All Porvair adhesive sealing films have two end tabs for easy, accurate and secure positioning on the microplate.
To prevent interference with automation systems, the sealing film end tabs are perforated to enable accurate and easy removal.
Fully compatible with the Porvair Thermobond heat sealer, the new range of thermal seals enable deep well plates, PCR plates, microtitre plates and polystyrene tubes to be sealed with a specially prepared pierceable film or foil.
The new range of six thermal sealing products includes a clear film for fluorometric and colorimetric assays, an aluminium foil for sample storage and a polypropylene/Al foil for PCR work.
Thermal sealing using the Thermobond is said to be well suited for higher throughput laboratories and is the choice for applications requiring longer term, high integrity sample sealing.
