As sensitive as an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, and with a cost per analysis of less then one penny, this instrument has detection limits as low as 0.1ppm
Spectrolab announces a new flame photometer called Superspec that, it says, is as sensitive as an atomic absorption spectrophotometer.
The photometer can analyse all emission elements including barium with some limits of detection as low as 0.1ppm, says the company.
Although originally designed for medical applications in hospital laboratories such as screening for lithium poisoning, blood and urine analysis and metabolic function, the instrument can also be used in any other situation including water table contamination, industrial waste, agriculture soil quality, cement analysis, food quality, wine and drinks etc.
Superspec can analyse many elements simultaneously from a single aspiration.
It is lightweight and will work anywhere.
Cost per analysis is said to be less than one penny.
