Makes it easy to view, report and archive the mechanical properties of materials measured on tension and compression testing machines equipped with Admet digital controllers
Admet, a manufacturer of integrated materials testing systems, has announced enhancements to its WinCom Plus serial communications, data management and plotting program for networked and standalone Microsoft Windows-based computers.
WinCom Plus makes it easy to view, report and archive the mechanical properties of materials measured on tension and compression testing machines equipped with Admet digital controllers, says the company.
All data and results are transmitted from the Admet digital indicator to the computer running WinCom Plus via an RS232 serial port.
WinCom Plus is capable of reporting in tabular form the results of a group of like tests.
It also generates a single test report that includes a stress vs strain curve with results displayed in the plot header.
Up to ten curves can be overlaid on the same set of graph axis.
Result reports are in Ascii comma separated values (csv) format which is compatible with most spreadsheet and database programs, so results can easily be imported to applications.
Single test data used to generate XY plots is transmitted in binary format for faster downloads and efficient data storage.
The binary data can be converted by WinCom Plus to Ascii csv format for further review and analysis in common spreadsheet programs.
All data stored in the computer can be recalled and viewed in WinCom Plus at a later time.
There are several new features in the latest version of WinCom Plus.
Chief among them are the addition of modulus, offset yield and yield EUL lines on stress vs strain curves, the addition of a user definable free text box which is automatically displayed on all plots, user selectable engineering units so that the information can be presented in different metrics, automatic data saving functions for unambiguous archiving of results and data, and the ability to paste stress vs strain curves in spreadsheet and word processor programs.
Admet WinCom Plus eliminates data entry errors since the results are gathered directly from the Admet indicator attached to the testing machine.
The easy-to-use interface enables lab managers to set up WinCom Plus in manual or unattended mode, which makes it easy to backup and store test data.
"Admet Wincom Plus is a convenient, inexpensive and easy-to-implement test reporting program," said Richard Gedney, Admet founder and president.
"We have kept it simple, yet it accomplishes what most laboratories need - it gathers, exports and reports data from universal testing machines in a format that makes the results available through virtually any spreadsheet application or lab management system.
"It is also a powerful tool for diagnosing customer test questions".
Admet WinCom Plus is available immediately directly from Admet.
It is compatible with Admet's full line of digital controllers and works with Microsoft Windows 95 and newer operating systems.
