New European distribution agreement with VWR International covers table top centrifuges, UV/visible spectrophotometers, microplate detectors and washers, and pH meters
Beckman Coulter announces a new four-year agreement with VWR International Europe for distribution of Beckman Coulter's table top centrifuges (Allegra and Microfuge series), pH meters, UV/visible spectrophotometers (DU500 and DU800 series), microplate detectors (AD 340, DTX 800/880) and washers, to life science research customers throughout Europe.
Effective from the start of July 2005, this deal expands the existing seven-year North American agreement between the two companies and covers Benelux, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland).
Further expansion into other countries will follow at a later date.
Headquartered in West Chester, Pennsylvania and with over 250,000 customers across North America and Europe, VWR International says its mission is to deliver excellence in the distribution of scientific supplies.
One of the company's primary markets is life science customers working in universities and research institutes.
Dietmar Graffius, vice president global life science for VWR International Europe, stated: "We have chosen to work with Beckman Coulter to expand our product portfolio for the life science market and better serve researchers throughout Europe".
Guy Rey, distribution manager for Beckman Coulter Europe, explains the background to the new agreement: "We have selected VWR International because of their Europe-wide coverage, the leverage with our US operations, their focus on life sciences and their large account management strategy.
"The agreement also allows Beckman Coulter to refocus resources on our core business in biomedical research".
Beckman Coulter is a manufacturer of biomedical testing instrument systems, tests and supplies that simplify and automate laboratory processes.
Spanning the biomedical testing continuum from pioneering medical research and clinical trials to laboratory diagnostics and point-of-care testing, Beckman Coulter's 200,000 installed systems provide essential biomedical information to enhance healthcare around the world.
The company, based in Fullerton, California, reported 2004 annual sales of $2.4 billion with 64% of this generated by recurring revenue from supplies, test kits and services.
