Martyn Ward will develop commercial activities and identify where the company's portfolio of products and services can be extended to offer them to a wider pharma and biotech client base
The Automation Partnership (Tap), a manufacturer of innovative industrial automation for life science applications, reports the appointment of Martyn Ward as commercial director.
Ward will develop Tap's commercial activities, as well as its sales and marketing programmes to identify where the company's portfolio of products and services can be extended to offer them to a wider pharma and biotech client base.
Before joining Tap, Ward spent 16 years in senior commercial roles with major scientific instrumentation suppliers, Thermo Electron, Integra Biosciences, and Genetix.
During this time he gained a wealth of experience in strengthening US and European sales teams, launching new products, and driving aggressive yet profitable growth strategies in existing and emerging international markets.
Latterly, he spent 18 months heading up US sales and business development as part of a turnaround team for an international footwear materials manufacturer.
With a baseline turnover of over £100M, Ward was said to be instrumental in steering the company back into profit by securing agreements with the company's largest US customers, footwear brands such as Nike and Timberland.
Commenting on his appointment, Martyn Ward stated: "I am very excited to join Tap at such a key stage in its development, where we have some ambitious new objectives to achieve.
"Tap has a great team and I am eager to take on the challenge of making the company more visible to a wider range of clients, as well as seeing the significant sales growth which I'm convinced will accompany this fresh approach".
Andy Morffew, CEO at Tap, added: "We are delighted to welcome Martyn Ward to Tap.
"His is a pivotal senior appointment and we have been very fortunate to recruit him.
"His rare mix of commercial experience within the life science industry and of driving change will bring a business insight into Tap's commercial group, that will steer the company in a more assertive sales direction."
