Martin Snowden has been invited to become a member of the prestigious Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPRSC) peer review college
Professor Martin Snowden, director of research for the school of science at the University of Greenwich at Medway, has been invited to become a member of the prestigious Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPRSC).
Snowden will be joining an elite panel of scientists in the EPRSC peer review college advising the government on its annual investment of £500 million to fund research and postgraduate training in engineering, maths, physics, chemistry, materials and information technology, and links between these and life sciences.
"It is an honour to be invited to work with EPRSC and a reflection of the reputation our school of science has gained as a centre of excellence," said Snowden.
He will serve the EPRSC peer review college for three years from the start of his appointment in January 2006.
College members are generally expected to provide up to 12 referee reports each year and take part in prioritisation panels ranking research proposals.
Snowden is a physical chemist with an international research reputation for his work in colloid and polymer science.
His strong links with industry have generated more than £3 million in research funding.
As an active consultant, he is regularly invited to deliver short courses in colloid and polymer science to industrial organisations including Procter and Gamble, BP Amoco, Glaxo Smith Kline and the Singapore Institute of Standards.
