Camlab, the Cambridge-based laboratory supplies company, has announced plans for substantial growth in product portfolio and market reach as it enters its second half-century
A new senior management team headed by managing director Ben Sunderland intends to expand activities in the life science and biotechnology markets, building on Camlab's acquisition of Whatman Labsales in 1999, which further enhanced the established businesses in laboratory supplies, instrumentation and water analysis.
"We are re-engineering our brand identity to reflect a new, exciting phase in Camlab's development" said Sunderland.
"Our portfolio growth has already started, and in 2005 we have been delighted to conclude several new distribution agreements including world-class brands like Gilson, Sartorius, Mettler, and Cecil.
"We are very receptive to adding other new brands for distribution through our own sales operation or through our 30-plus regional distributors.
"Camlab believes in long-term relationships - we have represented some of our existing principals, like Hach, for 30 years or more - that give the business a stable base on which to build.
"As principals ourselves, we are looking for additional distribution opportunities at home and overseas for our own-brand plasticware range, which includes some very novel and innovative products."
