Syagen Technology, an analytical instrumentation company, has announced the sale of its 1000th PhotoMate atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) source
PhotoMate is available on nearly every liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) system and is sold directly through Agilent, Bruker, Thermo Electron, Waters, and Shimadzu.
Syagen says it is the technology and market leader in photoionization mass spectrometry with nearly a dozen patents issued or pending.
APPI is an important complement to electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) by expanding the range and classes of compounds that can be analyzed, including nonpolar molecules that are not easily ionized by ESI or APCI, and by exhibiting less ion suppression than these other sources.
Sensitivity is also excellent over a wide range of flow rates and signal is linear over typically 5 orders of magnitude.
APPI is a rapidly growing method that has been the focus of several recent symposia at leading conferences and tradeshows.
"The mass spectrometry community is enthusiastically adopting APPI and is developing new breakthroughs and discoveries in the analytical chemistry field".
"New applications highlighting the unique benefits of APPI continue to be reported," says Jack Syage, CEO of Syagen.
"The increasing user base and number of customers who specify PhotoMate APPI sources in their mass spectrometers leads us to believe that PhotoMate will be a standard tool for chemists for many years to come." Syagen Technology is an analytical instrumentation company offering application-specific mass spectrometry solutions for high-speed molecular analysis.
