Novexin's Stabil-Pac is an affordable kit which helps improve protein solubility and stability to significantly increase productivity of protein purification, analysis and crystallisation processes
The Stabil-Pac Kit contains small, uncharged, carbohydrate polymers known as NV polymers/molecules that are ideal for solubilising proteins, antibodies and enzymes.
The proprietary NV polymers in the Stabil-Pac Kit are specifically formulated to have a hydrophobic face which will associate with any surface exposed hydrophobicity within proteins to form multi-point binding reversible complexes.
This means NV polymers can increase protein solubility and stability by preventing aggregation and non-specific binding.
Additionally, because NV polymers are relatively large molecules of 5kD, they can bind at multiple sites without entering the protein core or affecting protein structure and binding sites.
Therefore, the NV polymers are compatible with crystallisation, analytical assays such as IA, ligand binding or HTS, as well as structural assays including MS and CD.
This feature of the NV molecules also ensures minimal losses during purification and allows them to be easily removed when no longer required.
The new Stabil-Pac Kit, which comes complete with full instructions and reagents in the kit to solubilise up to 4ml of protein, is priced so that any scientist can afford to try it.
Daniel Jones, CSO of Novexin stated: "Protein processing and production is often delayed by problems associated with keeping proteins in solution at the right concentration and in the right buffer to allow analysis and simple purification".
"With Stabil-Pac, we are confident scientists can overcome this bottleneck and rapidly produce stable, soluble proteins at high concentrations making this inexpensive technology an excellent alternative to detergents, fusion proteins and other common solubilising reagents which can irreversibly alter protein structure."
