The Cinf-Fiz Scholarship for Scientific Excellence will be awarded for good ideas and research work on electronic processing and application of specialist knowledge in chemistry
Three young scientists will be celebrating: they will be honoured by Fiz Chemie Berlin and Cinf, the information department of the American Chemical Society ACS, on 11 September in San Francisco with a new German-American prize.
The Cinf-Fiz Scholarship for Scientific Excellence will be awarded for good ideas and research work on electronic processing and application of specialist knowledge in chemistry.
The winners will be selected through a poster competition in which young scientists from all over the world can participate.
The award is endowed with US$1000 and a commemorative plate for each winner.
Prizes will be given to those taking the first three places.
This year's winners of the Cinf-Fiz Scholarship for Scientific Excellence will be presented with their awards during the 232nd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in the course of the traditional Cinf Luncheon.
The names of the young researchers selected will be announced at the awards ceremony.
Fiz Chemie has for many years cultivated close partnerships with the American specialist information sector.
Many of the high quality databases of Fiz Chemie were developed within co-operative frameworks and are jointly operated and updated.
There are close contacts with Cinf, which is committed to the promotion of professional expertise in the handling of information resources and information technology.
It was from this partnership that the idea of German-American newcomer sponsorship was born.
The 232nd ACS Meeting will take place in San Francisco, California, between 10 and 14 September.
12,500 scientists are expected.
The ACS is the largest specialist society in the world which is dedicated to a single scientific discipline.
Associated with the ACS meeting is a large specialist exposition.
