The Institute of Clinical Research (ICR) says it is looking forward to 2007 following a very successful past 12 months
During 2006, the ICR has experienced growth in all of its areas of activity and in particular has enhanced its collaborative links with relevant professional organisations.
It has established effective relationships with several groups within the UK Department of Health and held a medical directors briefing with the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industries (ABPI).
In addition to this, membership has grown substantially and now includes more than 25% from outside the UK.
Recent overseas growth was accelerated by a very successful trip to India in November which resulted in the first Indian licensing deal for training and negotiations for the appointment of the first Indian country manager.
ICR chief executive John Hooper says he is delighted with what the ICR has achieved in 2006: "In both financial and commercial terms we've had a very impressive year.
"We've exceeded our targets, developed our educational, training, information, publishing and membership services, launched e-learning, held forums across Europe and done so much more than in previous years.
"I'm very excited about the prospects for 2007, especially our annual spring conference in March which looks to be our biggest yet".
The 28th ICR annual conference and exhibition on 27-28 March in Birmingham is the largest event of its kind in Europe and it is expected that more than 1200 delegates from across the pharmaceutical industry, academia and the health services will attend, all looking to make new contacts, renew old acquaintances or cement relationships.
