Label-free detection and electrical impedance measurements are becoming more accepted as methods for monitoring cells in vitro, as seen at Screening Europe, 20-21 February 2007 in Barcelona, Spain
The impedance technology of the Bionas 2500 analysing system differs from other instruments launched over the past few years due to additional, label-free measurements of acidification and oxygen consumption rates of living cells.
The system has an automatic fluidics device, which supplies the cells at regular, programmable intervals with fresh medium or medium with the test substances.
The device is well suited for long-term observations of living cells under conditions close to in vivo and for observing recovery effects.
The perfusion system ensures there is no accumulation of interfering metabolites.
While some impedance measurement instruments are designed for well-based screening applications, the Bionas 2500 focuses on high-content analysis.
