The risk posed by allergen contamination is one of the major challenges faced by food manufacturers.
Even where there is minimal risk of contamination, a simple labelling error can demand the recall of thousands of products and create mistrust among consumers.
RSSL Food Training has assembled a team of industry experts to address key areas of concern in a seminar to be held in London on Tuesday 5 June 2007.
Managing the Challenge of Allergen Control will present practical perspectives for dealing with allergen risks, with contributions from retailers, manufacturers, consumer groups and medical professionals.
According to RSSL's Simon Flanagan, who provides consultancy services on 'free-from' production: "When it comes to allergens all the trends are upwards.
"More allergens being identified, more allergen-sensitive consumers, more recalls being necessary, more problems for food manufacturers.
"This briefing is a timely reminder of where we stand now in terms of risk and legislation, and how best the industry can cope with the allergen challenge."
