A conference stream dedicated to the chemicals industry will take place at Lab UK, the new European trade fair devoted to analysis, bio and laboratory equipment, in October 2007
The conference stream, entitled 'Laboratories in the Chemicals Industry' is to be chaired by Andrew Ladds, chief executive of the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI).
Lab UK, a biennial exhibition, is taking place at Excel International Conference and Exhibition Centre, London, UK, from 2-4 October 2007.
During Lab UK, industry specific conference streams will be presented by chairs and keynote speakers from world-class companies and institutions.
The chemical conference stream will focus on topics of particular interest to laboratories within the chemical industry, providing attendees with scientific technical content, ways of improving processes and increasing efficiency, and strategic thinking.
Andrew Ladds, SCI's chief executive since March 2005, will be joined by a number of industry specialists who will lead the day-long programme on October 2 2007, which will focus on a range of topical industry areas including:.
A flow-based approach to synthetic chemistry.
Key elements of sampling in chemical analysis, process monitoring and quality control.
Fibre optic spectroscopy and industrial process control.
Strategies for the design and use of high-throughput automation.
ELNs and laboratory informatics in the chemicals industry.
Case Study: Streamlining catalyst preparation.
'Green Chemistry' and sustainable process and product development.
Recent advances in crystallization technology.
Within the programme, delegates have the opportunity to visit the exhibition itself, making direct contact with leading international manufacturers.
