GenScript One-Step Western kit trims analysis time in several places; it has fewer steps than traditional western blots, which may also reduce human error
International biology supply company GenScript has launched a new product, the One-Step Western Kit, which cuts the total run time for a standard western blot from 4.5 hours to one hour.
Much of this trimmed turnaround comes from the fact that the kit requires neither a blocking step nor secondary antibody binding.
GenScript One-Step Western kit does not require a separate step for secondary antibody binding.
GenScript representatives also claim its clear results may cut time from the publication process.
GenScript One-Step Western kits are available for use with rabbit, mouse, rat, goat, sheep and chicken primary antibodies.
There are also versions of the kit available for the detection of FLAG-, HA-, His-, and Trx-tagged proteins.
A kit containing ten assays retails for anywhere from US$195 to $350, depending on the antibodies and tags.
The company plans to develop a similar kit for IP-western blots, which may be available as early as next year.
