The Waldner MC6 product range was selected to furnish Dundee Scientific Services's new facility, because of its quality, functionality, and aesthetics
In October 2007 Dundee Scientific Services re-located to its new £2.1million facility in Dundee, Scotland.
The 1100m2 single story building will cater for the needs of the Tayside and Fife area and will employ approximately 25 staff including two public analysts plus other scientists and support workers.
Waldner was involved from the early stages of the project and worked closely with the design team.
Waldner produced various alternative furniture layouts together with budgetary costings until, with the aid of 3D design and render images, a final scheme within budget was agreed upon.
The installation comprised of pedestal and mobile underbench units with service spines, chemical storage units, balance tables, fume cupboards and service wings.
The installation of two 11 metre long service wings in the instrument laboratory has provided the users with an innovative approach to the service provision for various pieces of equipment, which leaves the workbench tidy and clutter free.
The construction of the facility was a partnering project between the main contractor, Mansell, Dundee City Council and various sub-contractors approved and nominated by the council, including Waldner .
This approach has proved to be very successful as all of the nominated contractors worked well as a team and installation problems were avoided, leading to project completion ahead of schedule and within the budget.
