The Belsorp-max gas and vapour adsorption instrument from Bel is now available in the UK from Merrow Scientific.
This high-performance instrument provides measurements of surface area and porosity.
The unit can produce measurements across a broad range of pressures as high as 133kPa.
Its 13.3Pa sensor and 24-bit A/D converter mean that it can also measure isotherms with accuracy at extremely low pressures.
Knowledge of surface area and porosity is important in the characterisation of porous or finely divided materials such as powders, pigments, catalysts, activated carbons, zeolites and so on.
The Belsorp-max will therefore have applications in sectors such as chemical and petrochemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, paints and pigments, coatings, ceramics, building materials, food and textiles.
It is equipped with three independent analysis ports and a dedicated port for saturation vapour pressure measurement.
Each port has pressure sensors, enabling up to three simultaneous and independent sample measurements.
The instrument incorporates Bel's advanced free space measurement method to compensate for free space change in the sample cell, which Bel said significantly increases the accuracy and repeatability of measurements.
Pneumatic valves are used throughout, ensuring better sealing and low gas emission.
An integrated constant temperature air bath helps produce stable data and allows vapour adsorption measurement without the risk of vapour condensation.
The Belsorp-max can be fitted with Bel's TPDPro add-on module, which allows the system to carry out more advanced analysis of chemisorption.
Features include temperature programmed desorption, temperature programmed reduction, temperature programmed oxidisation and pulse titration for measuring metal dispersion rate.
Companies interested in seeing measurements before buying the Belsorp-max are invited to send one or two samples for testing free of charge.
