Virtis, an SP Industries company, has announced the availability of the modern control upgrades for a variety of older freeze dryers.
It is offering upgrades and refurbishments for all of its controllers, including Sentry, Wizard, Encore and Maestro.
The mechanical components of most freeze dryers are very rugged and stable and can last in excess of 30 years with good preventative maintenance and care.
However, controller platforms are typically updated on a regular basis, offering ever-increasing functionality to the freeze dryer.
In facilities where multiple freeze dryers are in operation and a single control platform is advantageous, a Virtis controller upgrade programme can be implemented on both the Virtis dryers and other brands of freeze dryers.
Control upgrades range from simple operator control to full 21CFR-compliant PLCs and fully customised software.
As part of the controller upgrade, systems are typically fully rewired, inspected and tested to be 'like new' by the end of the upgrade process.
