John Morris Scientific has introduced the Pulverisette 14 centrifugal mill, which quickly reduces the size of medium-hard to soft materials and disperses and homogenises dry samples.
The centrifugal mill's two-step grinding ensures gentle but fast processing.
To begin with, the rotor blades pre-crush material with a maximum size of 2cm.
In the second run the material is ground between the rotor and the sieve-ring to a size of 0.08mm.
Variable speed between 20,000 and 6,000rpm combined with a strong drive adjusts speed to the load and stabilises speed for best milling results.
The centrifugal mill is suited for grinding temperature-sensitive materials such as grains, resins and fertilisers.
The high rotor-speed enables fast and effective grinding, drastically reducing thermal stress on the grinding material.
Samples that are difficult to grind, such as plastics, can be ground to analytical fineness by using liquid nitrogen to make them brittle.
