The QBC Star point-of-care haematology system combines centrifugation and analysis, and now comes with re-read functionality.
The system utilises Buffy Coat analysis technology using Acridine Orange as a fluorescent medium, and the dry reagents contained in the QBC Star tube facilitate testing and analysis without the liquid reagents and liquid waste of impedance systems.
An upgrade allows the user to re-read a sample that has already been spun and to assess precision as well as accuracy, as testing of the same tube can be repeated for confirmation of the results.
Troubleshooting is also made easier as a tube can be removed from the Star, assessed, and then placed in the analyser again for a second run.
New QBC Star systems have this functionality, and older systems can acquire it via a simple software upgrade.
The QBC Star and QBC Autoread measure the clinically significant parameters most requested by physicians, and features of the QBC range include true point-of-care, venous or capillary sample, no liquid waste or reagents and no user maintenance.
QBC Europe is seeking business partners to distribute the full QBC range in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, and will be exhibiting at Achema 2009 and Medica 2009.
