Supported by Biotechniques, the award recognises the contribution of HCA to scientific understanding and its positive impact on data quality and quantity, and in transforming the efficiency of research and discovery. 20 January 2010 - GE Healthcare has announced the winners of the 2010 In Cell Image Competition at the High Content Analysis (HCA) Conference in San Francisco, US. This year's competition saw more than 70 images generated by scientists using the In Cell Analyzer system.
The winning image for Asia was taken by Keiko Suzuki from Showa University, who imaged multinucleated osteoclasts produced from bone marrow macrophages stained for actin (green) and osteoclast marker cathepsin K (red).
The winning image for Europe was taken by Dr Miriam Ascagni from the DIBIT-San Raffaele Scientific Institute, who imaged a co-culture of murine macrophages and mesoangioblast stem cells stained for macrophage CD11b (red), mesoangioblast myosin (green) and DNA (blue).
The winning image for North America was taken by Corey Seehus from Brain Cells, who imaged human neural stem cells from foetal cortex stained for DNA (blue), neuronal (green), and astrocyte (red) markers.
