Romer Labs has released alternative HPLC methods for analysing mycotoxins with its clean-up products (Mycosep / Multisep and Starline immunoaffinity columns), based on methanol.
This was a response to the current acetonitrile shortage.
These methods are fully validated, are equivalent to acetonitrile-based standard methods and completely avoid acetonitrile or use extremely small amounts.
This helps to eliminate the laboratory supply and cost issue with the current shortage and any future acetonitrile shortage.
