Mettler Toledo is supporting the US Pharmacopeial (USP) Convention to present a course entitled 'Good Weighing Practices in the Pharmaceutical Industry: A Risk-Based Guideline'.
The one-day course, consisting of lectures and demonstrations, has been developed by USP and Mettler Toledo experts to help QA/QC and compliance managers in the pharmaceutical industry.
Attendees will learn the scientific approach for good weighing practices, with a strong emphasis on risk assessment, including information on how to develop and execute procedures for efficient verification and maintenance programmes.
The course will expose common misconceptions regarding balance selection and use, as well as inadequate routine testing.
It will be presented in English and is available at three venues: Basel, Switzerland on 19 May 2009, San Francisco on 2 June 2009, and Somerset, New Jersey, US on June 4 2009.
Course topics include specification and assessment of balance properties, weighing uncertainty and minimum weight within the context of General Chapter 41, proper balance qualification, live demonstration of external influences on weighing and their prevention, and risk-based routine operation and testing of weighing systems.
