The BLC Leather Technology Centre has acquired gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-ECD) equipment, enhancing its range of advanced chemical testing.
GC-ECD is a device for detecting electron-absorbing molecules in a gas phase through the attachment of electrons via electron capture ionisation.
This technique is suitable for the detection of low-level analytes such as halogen compounds, organometallic compounds and nitro compounds.
Samples can be analysed by the injection of volatile liquids or the application of headspace sampling.
GC-ECD chemical testing at BLC will facilitate fast and accurate testing of a range of restricted substances, according to the company.
