Symyx Technologies has announced that its Chemmobi App is now available for free on the App Store.
Chemmobi is intended to give on-the-go scientists access to more than 30 million chemical structures, chemical properties, suppliers and other information in the Symyx databases directly on their Iphone or Ipod touch devices.
Dr Trevor Heritage, president of Symyx Software, said: 'Chemmobi is a useful and convenient tool for chemists, biochemists and anyone else interested in accessing chemical structures and associated information while on the move.
'By integrating mobile communications with new chemical information services from Symyx, we've opened up exciting opportunities for scientists to receive immediate answers to their chemistry questions, no matter where they are,' he added.
Dr Antony Williams, vice-president of strategic development at the Royal Society of Chemistry, said: 'The integration of Chemspider with Symyx technology for Iphone and Ipod touch is an ideal mesh of capabilities for facilitating easy access to free chemistry content.' Powered by Discoverygate Web Service (DGWS) and Chemspider Search, Chemmobi provides access to chemical structures, enabling chemists to search for chemical names or IDs and retrieve associated information, including chemical structures, calculated properties, commercial availability from more than 860 suppliers, synonyms and material safety data sheet summaries from Chemadvisor. The Chemmobi App is available for free from the App Store on Iphone and Ipod Touch. Symyx scientific information management is intended to enable scientists to design, execute, analyse and report experimental results faster, more easily and less expensively. The company's microscale, parallel experimentation enables a single scientist to explore a broad experimental space and develop comprehensive datasets in days, rather than weeks or months.
