Biotools and the Parananda Molecular Biology Institute (IBMP) have signed a collaboration agreement for the use of Biotools' Gelification Technology.
IBMP will use Biotools' Gelification Technology in nucleic acid-based tests (NATs) to be implemented next year by Brazilian blood banks for the detection of HIV and HCV in blood donations.
Biotools' Gelification Technology stabilises reagents to reduce the risk of reagent degradation and contamination during shipment, storage and sample preparation.
Namely, Gelification Technology allows for the convenient room-temperature shipment, extended 4C storage and reduced handling time of reagents.
This technology is especially advantageous to the Brazilian Health System because it allows for products to be shipped across the country, to regions with different climatic and laboratory conditions, without the maintenance of a cold chain.
Additionally, simplified sample preparation enables the analysis of large batches of sample with complete automation and without the need for skilled staff.
