Cytobox, a subsidiary of Trenzyme, has launched an online order platform for customised mammalian cell lines.
Clonal cell lines stably expressing a protein of interest are routinely used in the characterisation of the potential physiological functions of mammalian proteins or for protein production, but the generation of such cell lines is laborious and resource consuming and the success is often ambiguous, according to the company.
With just a few clicks, Cytobox customers can define up to five cell lines at once and submit their order.
An optimised cDNA corresponding to the customer's target protein sequence is generated by gene synthesis and cloned into the Exoin vector.
After transfection into the parental cell line (selected online by the customer), a homogenously expressing stable cell line is generated by using Trenzyme's validated Exoin technology.
Target expression is confirmed by qPCR and the customised Cytobox cell line is dispatched to the customer within 30 working days, including a ready-to-use medium.
Cytobox ensures persistent and stable target expression if genuine Cytobox media are used.
As a result, the customer does not face any costs if the ordered cell line does not express the desired target.
