Labcell is offering discounts worth up to GBP1,000 for customers trading in an old CX2 series Aqualab Water Activity Meter when purchasing a new Series 4TE model.
Decagon Devices Aqualab Series 4TE Water Activity Meters measure water activity to four decimal places at a tolerance of +/-0.003aw over a measurement range of 0.030 to 1.000aw.
The TE reference in the model number refers to temperature equilibration - in other words, the instrument maintains the sample temperature at a predefined and reproducible setpoint anywhere between 15 and 50C.
Readings are obtained in less than five minutes and up to 10,000 readings can be stored internally within the instrument.
This data can be downloaded to a PC using the Aqualink RG software.
Compared with the earlier models, other benefits offered by the Series 4TE include easier cleaning, an improved user interface and, by virtue of the Aqualink RG software, compliance with the requirements of the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11 rule regarding electronic records and signatures.
Customers still using Aqualab CX2 water-activity meters have, in most cases, had the instruments for 15 years or more.
Due to their age and the ongoing programme of continuous improvement, CX2 instruments are becoming difficult to maintain due to a lack of spare parts, hence tolerances have had to be widened and reliability can no longer be assured.
Labcell is therefore encouraging customers to upgrade to the latest Series 4TE model and has introduced the GBP1,000 Scrappage Scheme as a financial incentive.
Every Aqualab is delivered by a Labcell engineer who then trains the users to ensure that the customer gains the full benefit of the water-activity meter - which comes with a three-year warranty.
