Phenomenex is to present a workshop at Pittcon 2011 on new methods for drugs of abuse testing using LC/MS/MS and GC/MS.
Participants will get the latest information on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) guidelines, as well as updated drug lists and concentration limits.
A new method using SPE followed by analysis by LC/MS/MS will be presented, which decreases solvent usage and processing time while maintaining high recoveries for all target drug compounds.
Some common problems with new and emerging methods will also be addressed and resolved.
The workshop, 'Emerging drugs, tests, and analyses in the toxicology field', will be offered at 8am on 15 March in Room 409 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
A complete agenda can be found on the Pittcon web site under 'Technical programme/technical sessions'.
There is no additional charge for registered Pittcon conferees.
Phenomenex will also co-chair with Eli Lilly a workshop on columns in UHPLC at Pittcon.
The workshop will feature speakers from column and instrument manufacturers, as well as expert users from pharmaceutical companies Abbot and Eli Lilly.
Participants will hear first-hand accounts of the effects of the various recent innovations in column packings on UHPLC performance, as well as a discussion of current trends and goals for future product improvements.
Sub-2um particle columns, as well as new core-shell media, will be discussed.
The workshop, 'UHPLC: instrument influences on maximizing separation performance', will be offered on 14 March at 2pm in room 409 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
