Micromeritics has introduced a low-cost method to determine total pore volume and percent porosity using a combination of its pycnometer technology.
The skeletal volume of a solid body excludes pores and void spaces between particles.
Envelope volume includes all pores and voids.
The combination of these measurements allows scientists to accurately calculate percent porosity and total pore volume.
Micromeritics' Accupyc II 1340 gas pycnometer provides skeletal volume measurements, while its Geopyc 1360 pycnometer determines the envelope volume and density of monolithic samples and the bulk volume and density of powdered materials.
