Extension pack features new techniques for managing data effectively and delivers the latest technology in fitting algorithms for faster and more precise solutions
Mathsoft Engineering and Education, a provider of calculation solutions that drive best practices for engineers and engineering organisations, has announced the Data Analysis Extension Pack: a powerful enhancement to Mathcad, the industry-standard solution for applying maths.
Now any engineer or technical professional can better manage data from multiple sources into the Mathcad design environment to analyse engineering data patterns.
Designed with industrial applications in mind, the Data Analysis Extension Pack features new techniques for managing data effectively and delivers the latest technology in fitting algorithms for faster and more precise solutions.
Engineering organisations can integrate analyses into their design process, improve management of their calculations and incorporate their data analysis work into publication-quality technical documents, graphs and presentations created in Mathcad.
The extension pack addresses the most common requirements and data problems that engineers encounter in their field of work, including multiple data formats, missing values and inconsistent field formatting. "Engineering calculations represent a critical component of the design process, so understanding the data feeding these calculations is fundamental to a successful engineering project, especially where industrial applications are involved," said Allen Razdow, senior vice president of products and services at Mathsoft.
"The Data Analysis Extension Pack responds to our customers' needs and significantly expands the capabilities they have with Mathcad, so they can perform even deeper data analyses at every stage of the design process".
Packed with impressive features, the Data Analysis Extension Pack gives streamlined access to data fitting, powerful importing of large datasets, and easy-to-use techniques for managing and searching data matrices.
New features and functionality include data import wizards that support files in ASCII, fixed-width, binary, Excel and other formats, with content preview, filler options and delimiter specifications.
Matrix utility functions for flexible table lookup, data ranking and empirical maxima and minima searches.
Statistical functions for electronic data analysis, outlier detection and missing value NaN (not a number support). Flexible nonparametric fitting algorithms (interpolation) using statistical methods to create optimal solutions, and returning more information about the fit.
Robust, generalised parametric nonlinear fitting functions, which support weighting and constraints.
Documentation that includes examples of commonly used analysis scenarios with real data, written in Mathcad for reuse.
Detailed documentation of existing Mathcad functions for data analysis, in conjunction with Mathcad programs and Scriptable components, shows new ways to use the already powerful toolset in Mathcad.
Complete library of Mathcad functions, including those for utilities, statistics, outliers, regression and splines.
"The Data Analysis Extension Pack comes with many useful functions that complement the features and capabilities of Mathcad and provides rich information about engineering data," said Xavier Colonna de Lega, senior research scientist, Zygo, a supplier of high precision optics, optical assemblies, high performance metrology instruments and automation for the semiconductor and industrial markets. "Definitely one of many great additions in this function pack is the new least-square spline functions, which offer a powerful and user-friendly tool for data analysis, interpolation and compression".
The Mathcad Data Analysis Extension Pack is supplied and supported in the UK and Ireland by Adept Scientific.
