New database, protocols and technical tips brought online to enhance ease of use of surface plasmon resonance biosensor technology
Biacore has announced significant additions to its new Knowledge2 online support centre.
This central web-based resource contains up-to-the-minute information on services for the Biacore user community and those interested in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor technology.
A major new addition to the site is the Immobilisation and Regeneration Database (IRDB), which is part of the Biacore Advisor series of interactive and on-line knowledge-based products.
The IRDB is a practical guide designed to enable the SPR user to readily find an immobilisation or regeneration protocol relevant to their own ligand.
SPR technology enables the real-time study of biomolecular interactions using sensor chips on which one of the interacting partners is attached and sample containing the other partner(s) flows over the surface.
The IRDB provides a comprehensive tool to help SPR users define the optimal conditions for utilisation of this chip-based technology when developing assays for their particular sample of interest.
As a fully integrated database, the IRDB enables ready access to protocols developed by application and R and D scientists from Biacore, as well as protocols developed and published by Biacore users around the world.
The IRDB is constantly updated to include the very latest protocols and links to the Biacore Reference Database, users are also invited to submit protocols for inclusion online.
This expedites the sharing of knowledge with subsequent rapid generation of high quality SPR data.
A further useful addition to the Biacore Knowledge2 website is the Advisor tech tips and protocols.
This is also designed to increase the effective use of Biacore systems.
"Our years of experience at Biacore in the development and evaluation of assays has generated a wealth of useful information and protocols which can assist users as they begin or expand their use of our SPR technology," said Clive Seymour, vice president and head of the life science research business unit.
Protocols, tips and other highly useful information will continually be added to this new section, rapidly answering questions on issues as simple as optimal buffer preparation and sample preparation approaches, or on more in depth queries such as system maintenance and optimal assay design.
"These latest updates of Biacore's website are part of an ongoing process to create a high level technical support resource for those using Biacore's SPR technology or interested in doing so in the future.
"Secure free of charge signup procedures offer visitors to the site intuitive online access to other items such as Biacore Journal, Biacore Symposia proceedings and training information.
"There are also frequent updates on the latest advances in SPR technology and its ever widening applications," added Seymour.
Both the new Immobilisation and Regeneration Database and the Tech Tips and Protocols sections can be found at the Biacore Knowledge2 online support centre.
