Megapixal FireWire digital cameras now talk to digital video recording software with VCR-like controls and easy data input/output
BFi Optilas says that Pixelink PL-A640 series megapixel FireWire cameras are now supported with the StreamPix software from Norpix.
StreamPix is a digital video recording software that records live uncompressed video directly to a PC hard disk or RAM in real time.
Using StreamPix with the PL-A640 series, you can save to disk uncompressed video at up to 14fps at 1280 x 1024 resolution and 30fps at 640 x 480 resolution.
It is also possible to reduce the ROI to get a higher frame rate.
Features: acquire from colour, RGB, monochrome or high resolution cameras at up to 60Mbytes/second; acquire images as AVI compressed or uncompressed format; export images as BMP, TIFF, JPEG or playback as AVI-like movies; VCR style control: record, play, rewind, fast forward, step, and pause.
StreamPix also supports the QImaging line of digital cameras using the IEEE 1394 FireWire interface.
Specific drivers are available for other camera models using framegrabber capture.
