National Instruments IVI drivers are now available for the QL series of high-performance laboratory bench power supplies from TTi (Thurlby Thandar Instruments).
To assist in the implementation of this precision power supply in automated systems, TTi has now released LabWindows CVI and LabView drivers conforming to the IVI format.
IVI drivers are sophisticated instrument drivers that feature increased performance and flexibility for complex tests requiring interchangeability, state caching, or simulation of instruments.
To achieve interchangeability, the IVI Foundation has defined specifications for the following eight instrument classes: DMM, oscilloscope, arbitrary waveform/function generator, DC power supply, switch, power meter, spectrum analyser, and RF signal generator. Certified IVI drivers are technically supported by National Instruments.
'Plug and play' instrument drivers simplify control and communication with instruments via a standard simple programming model for all drivers.
Labview and LabWindows/CVI 'plug and play' instrument drivers comply with requirements and recommendations for programming style, error handling, front panels, block diagrams, icons, and online help.
Because these drivers maintain a common architecture and interface, users can quickly and easily connect to and communicate with instruments with very little or no code development.
The TTi QL series is a high-performance range of bench power supplies providing exceptionally high levels of precision, resolution and stability.
Single- and triple-output versions of the TTi QL series are available with output power ranging from 105 to 215W.
QL series power supplies can operate in constant-voltage or constant-current mode with automatic crossover.
Voltages can be set to a resolution of 1mV right up to maximum output voltage, and currents can be set or measured down to 0.1mA.
For greater flexibility, switchable ranges are provided, allowing higher currents to be generated at lower voltages.
The QL355, for example, provides a maximum current of 3A at up to 35V.
A second range increases the current capability to 5A for voltages up to 15V.
A bus interface is available incorporating fully isolated GPIB (IEEE-488), RS-232 and USB interfaces.
The USB interface is particularly suited to direct control from a personal computer.
The QL series has a compact footprint for bench use and can also be rack-mounted.
Up to three single-output units can be mounted side by side, and duplicate rear terminals are available for rack use.
Size is 140 x 160 x 290 mm and weight is 5.5kg.
